Hi Paul, working in corporate innovation, I can assure you that you are spot on about the reason that most executives dont really get social. They are in the most time-poor years of their lives where both work and family pressures converge, and simply dont have time to learn or mess about with new stuff to the point of discovering their own a-ha insights. Its one of the reasons I have created the AmplifyFestival- an immersive weeklong in-house festival of ideas curated for corporate people in a way that they can simply pop into a session without taking a day away from the office.
